KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Bowling Green at 3 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex.

LAST WEEK
Western Michigan split its games last week, falling on the road at West Virginia on Wednesday and rebounding at home to beat SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday.
Against WVU the Broncos found themselves in a 2-0 deficit before
Mike Melaragni scored his third goal of the season to cut the lead in half. The Mountaineers responded a minute later to push ahead 3-1 and hold off WMU.
On Sunday the Broncos were down 1-0 heading into the second half but scored three goals in the three goals in the final 45 to earn a 3-2 win. WMU picked up goals from
Noah Brumels, Melaragni and
Daniel Nimick, while
Lukas Von Lienen was subbed in at half time and made four saves to earn the win.
FIRST OF THE FRESHMEN
Eight different freshmen have played this season for the Broncos but
Noah Brumels became the first to score a goal. Brumels scored WMU's first goal of the game against SIUE back on Sunday, tying the game up at 1-1.
Brumels is the third freshmen to record a point this season, joining redshirt freshman
Landon Fisher and
Gavin Wigg, who each have assists this year.
BACK ON THE SCHEDULE
Western Michigan's game at Akron that was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within UA's program has now been rescheduled. The two teams will play at Akron on April 14 at 7 p.m. The two will then meet up against on Sunday, April 18 at 12 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green is 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in MAC play. BGSU has not played since March 21 due to COVID-19 issues within the program but are currently on a three-game winning streak that included three 1-0 wins over SIUE, WVU and NIU.
Senior midfielder Chris Sullivan leads the team in points, goals and assists. He has 10 points on the season with a team-high three goals and four assists. Senior defender Jacob Erlandson has two goals and two assists, while freshman defender Kyle Cusimano is the only other Falcon with more than one goal. Logan Kowalczyk has played the most minutes in net for BGSU, starting in seven of the eight games and posting a 4-3-0 record with three shutouts and 15 total saves.
ON THE HORIZON
WMU heads to Akron next Wednesday to take on the Zips before hosting them on Sunday at 12 p.m. A game at BGSU is still do be determined.
