SILVER LAKE, Ohio – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up its 2020-21 season, taking eighth place at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships at Silver Lake Country Club on Saturday.
WMU shot its best round of the weekend, combining for a total of 319 and finishing with a 54-hole total of 978 (+114). Kent State won the tournament with a final total of 878 (+14).
Three Broncos all finished within three shots of each other. Junior Brook Gibbons was Western Michigan's highest finisher in the field tying for 25th after shooting a final round of 77 for a 240 (+24). Gibbons had a team-high six birdies on the weekend 24 pars. Sophomore
Alissa Fish jumped up 12 spots and finished tied for 28
th after shooting a 75, the lowest round for any individual Bronco on the weekend, and a 54-hole total of 242 (+26). Fish had a team-high 28 pars and finished the tournament with two birdies.
Fiona Khaing finished right behind Fish with a total of 243 (+27). Senior
Cameryn Lucia and junior
Imogen Courtney rounded out the field for the Broncos shooting a 254 and 268.
KSU's Caley McGinty was the individual medalist, shooting 212 (-2) on the weekend.
