HILLSDALE, Mich. – Western Michigan senior
Brittney Hall ran the second-fastest time in school history to take first place in the 10,000-meter run as the Bronco Track & Field team closed out action at the Hillsdale College GINA Relays on Friday night.
Hall ran a time of 34:55.17 to take the race, outlasting Laurel Moyer from Lock Haven by just over six seconds. The victory was also her second of the season, also winning the 5,000-meter run back on March 27 at the ADIDAS Winthrop Invitational.
Fellow senior
Juliane Sormain nearly pick up a win in the 800-meter run, but was edged out by the unattached Emily Pedzinski by .02 seconds after running a time of 2:11.30, taking second place. The time was a season low and an outdoor personal best for the Cachan, France, native. Senior
Rebecca McNamee also had a strong showing in the event, finishing in fifth place with a new personal-best time of 2:13.03.
Over in the sprints freshman
Trinity Bracey took seventh overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.41, while
Claira Gilchrist finished with a time of 1:01.36 and
Kennedy Campeau had a time of 1:02.65. In the 100-meter hurdles freshmen
Ahvon Mitchell and
Grace Johnson finished back-to-back with times of 15.17 and 15.19.
Junior
Madison Ochs and WMU's top field performance of the day with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a new personal-best distance of 154' 5" (47.07m).
The Broncos are back in action on Saturday to compete in the discus, shot put, 4x100-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.
