KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team heads to the University of Akron and Portage Country Club to wrap up the regular season at the Akron Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The 36-hole tournament will feature the host Zips, Eastern Michigan, University of Indianapolis, Ohio, Toledo, WMU and individuals from Kent State. The teams will play 18 holes on Friday and another on Saturday. The course at Portage Country Club will measure to 6,265 yards and will be a par 71. No live scoring will be available.
Western Michigan is coming off of a ninth place finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational that featured the second-straight top-15 performance by senior
Cameryn Lucia. Lucia finished tied for 11th place last weekend with a 36-hole total of 152 (+8) after shooting a 75 to open play and a 77 to conclude it. The team's total of 627 was its lowest for 36 holes on the season, cutting six strokes off of the 633 they shot at the Indiana State Spring Invitational.
Western Michigan heads to Silver Lake, Ohio, and the Silver Lake Country Club for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships next Friday and Saturday.
