BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Western Michigan golf team sits in ninth place after the opening round of the 10th annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
The Broncos combined to shoot 312 (+24) and sit just three shots out of third place heading into Sunday's final round. Bowling Green leads its tournament after shooting a 294 (+6), followed by Ball State at 301 (+13).
Senior
Cameryn Lucia led WMU with a 75 (+3) on the day, her lowest round on the season and tying her for ninth. She had a tournament low -2 in par three scoring on the day and had three birdies and nine pars in the round. Junior
Brooke Gibbons sits just two shots behind her with six other golfers at 77 (+5). Gibbons was tied for the tournament lead in pars with 13 in the round.
Fiona Khaing and
Imogen Courtney both shot 80's (+8) on the day, while
Alissa Fish finished right behind them with an 81 (+9).
