KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team heads to Central Michigan University to take on the Chippewas on Thursday at 3 p.m.
Western Michigan is off to a 2-0-1 start this season, its first unbeaten start in MAC play since the 2018 season when the team opened up 3-0. After winning two straight at Northern Illinois and at home against Eastern Michigan, the Broncos battled Ball State to a 0-0 tie last Friday. Redshirt senior goalkeeper
Maggie Rogers made nine saves as the Broncos earned their third shutout of the season.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan is off to a 2-1 start this season. After dropping its season-opener at Eastern Michigan, 2-1, the responded with two straight wins against Ball State and at Toledo, both 2-1. The win at the Cardinals came in overtime.
Senior Midfielder Natalie Belisto has three goals on the season, including the OT-winner against BSU, to lead the team. Amanda Britain and Fotini Demetriou also each have a goal, while three different Chippewas are tied for the team lead with one assist. Freshman Allison LaPoint has played all three games in goal for CMU, making 12 saves.
INTO THE RANKINGS
The Broncos are sitting strong at No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region rankings for the second-straight week. Western Michigan is one of two Mid-American Conference teams in the rankings this weekend with Buffalo sitting at No. 10.

Western Michigan is currently on a 290-minute shutout streak. It's the longest shutout streak since the Broncos recorded 270 minutes in three straight wins against Wright State, Oakland and UIC in 2018.
