Men's Soccer Returns Home After Over 400 Days to Host WVU on Sunday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team returns home to host a game at the WMU Soccer Complex for the first time in 491 days, welcoming West Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
SPECTATOR INFORMATION
Due to COVID-19 regulations fan attendance is invite only via a pass list. Gates will be open 30 minutes prior to the start and fans must leave through the same entrance they entered from.

Sunday's game will be live streamed for free at www.wmubroncos.com/watch.
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
WVU is off to a 2-0 start this season after opening the Spring with a 3-0 win at Charlotte and then a 1-0 win at home over Northern Illinois to open MAC play.
 
Two players are responsible for West Virginia's four games on the season. Junior forward Tony Pineda and redshirt freshman defenseman Bjarne Thiesen each have two goals on the season. Junior defender Elijah Borneo and freshman defender Jesus De Vincente each have an assist. Senior Steven Tekesky has started both games between the sticks, making seven total saves in the two shutout wins.
 
Opponents have outshot the Mountaineers 27-7 on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
WMU improved to 2-1-0 on the season in dramatic fashion after an overtime win at Spring Arbor on Wednesday afternoon. Max Keenan netted a penalty kick goal just minutes into the first overtime period.
 
Keenan's goal made him the fourth goal scorer for the Broncos this season. Daniel Nimick scored earlier in the game against the Cougars to become the third scorer on the season. Junior forward Mike Melaragni still leads the team with two.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan heads on the road for the next two games, traveling to Northern Illinois next Wednesday and then to Akron on Monday, March 22.
