CLEVELAND – Western Michigan men's basketball senior forward
Greg Lee has been named the Mid-American Conference's Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
Lee led the Broncos this past week to a 2-0 record with a pair of road victories at Bowling Green and at Central Michigan. Lee in two games averaged a double with 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. The senior forward also averaged 3.0 assists per game while shooting a staggering 62.5 percent from the field.
Last Wednesday at Bowling Green Lee registered his third double-double of the season with a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Against the Falcons the Rockford, Ill., natïve was 7-of-12 from the field to go along with four assists and one block.
On Saturday at in-state rival Central Michigan, Lee hit the game-winning basketball with 1.8 seconds remaining to clinch a 67-65 victory for the Brown & Gold. In 27 minutes Lee scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Lee's 16 points marked the fifth straight game of scoring in double figures.
Over the past five games Lee is averaging 18.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 61.8 percent from the field. Overall Lee ranks second on the Broncos at 12.5 points per game while leading the team in scoring during MAC play at 13.9 points per contest.
