KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team has announced its captains for the 2020-21 season with junior forward Morgan Otteson, senior midfielder Bailey Korhorn and senior goalkeeper Maggie Rogers tabbed to lead the team.
 
Korhorn has been a captain since the 2019 season, while Otteson earned her leadership position in January 2020. Rogers was recently made a captain earlier this month.
 
"Bailey and Morgan have done a fantastic job leading the team," said head coach Sammy Boateng. "They helped the group navigate through the cancellation of the Spring 2020 season, quarantine and the postponement of our traditional fall season. Maggie has been a great addition to into this group with her energy and enthusiasm. They all have different leadership styles and I am excited to see how all three captains serve the program on and off the field this spring."
 
Korhorn has been a two-year starter since transferring from Cincinnati after the 2017 season. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native earned Second Team All-MAC honors last season after racking up 17 points on six goals and five assists. Otteson started all 19 games last season and led the Broncos 10 goals on the season. Also a native of Grand Rapids, she was a First Team All-MAC selection and a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region pick. Rogers played in and started 18 games last season, a career-high. She posted an 8-8-1 record with five shutouts, making 89 saves.
 
Western Michigan opens up its season on Thursday, March 4 at Northern Illinois. The Broncos will only play a Mid-American Conference schedule for the regular season with home dates against Eastern Michigan on March 6, Toledo on March 21, NIU on April 1, Ball State on April 4 and CMU on April 8. Attendance guidelines due to COVID-19 restrictions are still to be determined.
