CLEVELAND – Western Michigan volleyball's Andelyn Simkins has been named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Simkins, a sophomore with a 3.60 GPA in exercise science, posted a double-double in all three of WMU's wins last week. She totaled 34 kills (3.09/set) and 42 digs (3.82/set) for the week, and also added five blocks. In the finale against CMU, Simkins notched 13 kills on a .324 hitting percentage and collected a team-high 20 digs.

This is the first MAC Scholar Athlete honors for Simkins. 
 
The Broncos, winners of their last six, head on the road this weekend to take on Miami Ohio on Friday at 7 p.m. and then on to Bowling Green on Saturday at 5 p.m. Both games can be watched live on ESPN3.
