EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team continued action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championship at Michigan State University on Saturday and Sunday.

In the singles main draw with Peter Kuszynski winning his opening match against Wisconsin's Tim Dzhurinsky 6-1, 6-2. Kuszynski dropped his second round match to DePaul's Vito Tonejc 6-4, 6-3. Freshman Anton Arzhankin won his opening match in the main draw, beating UW's Robin Parts 7-6 (5), 6-4. Illinois Olivier Stuart got the best of him in he second round, with Arzhankin falling 6-4, 1-6, 4-6.

Also winning in the opening round of the main draw was sophomore Benjamin George, sophomore Jackson Boone and junior Arjun Honnappa. George had a three-set battle with Notre Dame's Braeden Ho, winning 6-7 (2), 6-0, 7-6 (4). Boone also won in three sets over DePaul's Tripp Tuff 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-2. Honnappa defeated Cleveland State's Jakov Suler 6-4, 6-3 but all three fell in the second round.

In doubles action Fynn Lohse and Ferdinand Schlueter beat the University of Michigan's team of Yaffe and Zederbauer 8-6 before losing to Northeastern's Pickens and Forman 8-3. Kuszynski and Honnapp bowed out in the opening round to UND's duo of Ho and Fu, 8-7 (5).

In the first match consolation bracket Brogan Pierce defeated Erik Gran of Youngstown State 6-1, 7-5 and will face JuandeDios Abboud from CSU.

The tournament wraps up on Monday.
