KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team hosts Ball State on Thursday at 4 p.m. before hitting the road for an afternoon showdown with Miami on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Broncos halted their losing streak this past Sunday against the Akron Zips by a final tally of 2-0. Morgan Otteson gave the Broncos an early lead, while Bailey Korhorn extended the WMU cushion with the team's second goal of the game.
Thursday's contest with Ball State can be streamed for free via Bronco All-Access.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS (4-8-2, 2-4-2 MAC)
Ball State enters Kalamazoo on Thursday following a 3-0 loss to Kent State. The Golden Flashes found the back of the net in the 12th minute of play, which ended up ultimately being the deciding factor in the game.
Redshirt senior midfielder Nicky Potts lead the scoring effort for the Cardinals, tallying five shots on the afternoon, with three landing on goal. Senior forward Tatiana Mason added an additional four shots, landing two on goal.
Sophomore defender Abby Elgert and senior defender Lexy Smith contributed three shots and two shots, respectively, each also landing one shot on goal., with senior goalkeeper Alex DeRuvo saving six Kent State shots in the meeting as well. Smith received a red card in the 38th minute of play, and will be ineligible to compete on Thursday against the Broncos.
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS (7-6-3, 4-4-0 MAC)
Miami gets set to host the Broncos on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kick-off. The RedHawks are currently in the middle of a three-game losing streak, most recently suffering a 1-0 loss via the Bobcats of Ohio.
The RedHawks put up a sound defensive performance for most of the game, but Ohio found the net in the 75th minute of play that ended up being the deciding factor. Freshman midfielder Makenna Morrison lead the offensive effort for Miami, tallying three shots and landing two on goal. Sophomore forward Haley Anspach contributed two shots for her team's cause as well.
Additionally, senior goalkeeper Izzie Vaccari registered five saves against Ohio.
The RedHawks will take on Northern Illinois this Thursday before their contest with WMU.

Following the trip to Oxford this weekend, the Bronco women's soccer team has just one regular season matchup remaining, taking the form of the Huskies from Northern Illinois on Oct. 28, with kick-off scheduled for 4 p.m. The game against NIU can be streamed for free via Bronco All-Access.
