Fish Tied for Second After Opening Round of Braun Intercollegiate

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Junior Alissa Fish sits three strokes off the lead and tied for second place as the Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the first round of the Braun Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Evansville at Oak Meadow Country Club on Monday.

Fish shot a 76 (+4) and is currently tied with Ashley Kulka from Green Bay ahead of Tuesday's final round. The Clarklake, Mich., native had 12 pars and one birdie in the round.

The Broncos sit in fourth place with a combined score of 320 (+32) and are just one shot behind third-place North Alabama. Green Bay leads the tournament with a 309 (+21), followed by IUPUI in second at 315 (+27). WMU is two strokes ahead of both Evansville and Illinois-Chicago, with Chicago State sitting in seventh at 332 (+44).

Senior Brooke Gibbons is tied for ninth place with a 79 (+7) after recording 11 pars in the opening round. She is one of five golfers tied at 79. Freshman Madeline Bloom, competing as an individual, is just two shots behind Brooks after an opening round of 81 (+9), while Allyson Barth is just one shot behind her. Senior Cameryn Lucia is tied for 28th with an 83 (+11), while Fiona Khaing rounded out WMU's top five with an 88.

The final round begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
