Frank and Aslanidis Earn NCHC Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan hockey's Ethen Frank and Alex Aslanidis have earned Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Player of the Week honors for their roles in WMU's sweep of No. 4/5 St. Cloud State over the weekend.

For the second time this season, Frank has earned Co-Bauer NCHC Forward of the Week. Frank netted three goals on the weekend and finished with a plus/minus of +2. In Friday's 6-2 win he netted his seventh goal of the season to put the game out of reach by giving the Broncos a 5-2 lead in the third period. On Saturday he netted the eventual game-winning goal in the 3-1 victory. His first goal put the Broncos ahead 2-0 in the second period. He then sealed the game with an empty-net goal, pushing his season total to 10. Frank now leads in the NCHC in goals scored and is tied for second in the nation.

Aslanidis earns Bauer NCHC Goalie of the Week for the first time in his young career. The freshman started both games in net, only allowing three goals on the weekend and finishing with a .942 save percentage. In Friday's 6-2 win over the Huskies he made 21 saves and allowed two goals on the night, while helping the penalty kill go 1-for-1. In Saturday's 3-1 win he had a career high 28 saves, while allowing just one goal. Aslanidis has started all four games of the unbeaten streaks, the first four starts of his career, and has posted a 1.71 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.

The Broncos head on the road this weekend at No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday at 7:07 p.m. and Sunday at 5:07 p.m. Both games will be carried live on NCHC.tv and the Bronco Radio Network.
