COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan sophomore Ronnie Attard and freshman Ty Glover have earned National Collegiate Hockey Conference Player of the Week honors for their performance against Miami.
Attard has been named Bauer NCHC Defenseman of the Week and Glover earned Bauer NCHC Rookie of the Week.
Attard, a native of White Lake, Mich., had two goals and an assist as the Broncos took five-of-six points against the RedHawks. In the series opener he netted the game-tying goal with 1.1 seconds left in the first period. In the second period he helped set up Josh Passolt's game-winning goal on the power play, picking up the secondary assist to put WMU ahead 2-1. In Saturday's game he scored the game-tying goal with 7:29 left in the third period, squaring the score at 3-3, to complete the two-goal comeback in the period. After the weekend, Attard is now tied for third on the team with 10 points off of three goals and seven assists. The Philadelphia Flyers' draft pick also sits in third in scoring among NCHC defenseman.
Glover had a career weekend against the RedHawks. On Friday he assisted on Attard's game-tying goal in the first period. He later netted his first collegiate goal to help seal the win. The goal came on the power play in the third period to push the lead to 3-1. On Saturday he scored again in the third period, this time cutting Miami's lead to 2-1 with another power play tally. He then helped get the Broncos within one, assisting on Jamie Rome's goal to cut the lead to 3-2. Glover's four-point weekend pushed his season total to seven on two goals and five assists.
