KALAMAZOO, Mich. – On Tuesday the Northwoods League announced that Western Michigan LHP
Dane Armbrustmacher of the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies has been named a 2020 postseason all-star.
In the Northwoods League Michigan South Pod playoffs, Armbrustmacher pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out five. Armbrustmacher and the Mac Daddies captured not only the NWL South Pod Championship but the Michigan NWL Championship against the Traverse City Pit Spitters.
Overall Armbrustmacher made 13 appearances for the Mac Daddies this season, registering a 3-2 record and a staggering 1.41 ERA. In 38.1 innings the Fowler, Mich., native allowed just six earned runs on 23 hits while striking out 35.
During the regular season Armbrustmacher recorded a 1.27 ERA, the lowest on the Mac Daddies (min. 10 IP). The left-handed pitcher earned at least two strikeouts in nine of his 12 appearances including ending the season with three straight five-strikeout performances. Armbrustmacher posted a season-high six strikeouts back on Aug. 9 in a 6-0 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers.
In his sophomore campaign at Western Michigan, Armbrustmacher made five appearances on the mound for the Broncos and recorded 12 strikeouts. As a freshman in 2019, Armbrustmacher made 24 appearances and earned 33 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .259 batting average.
