KANSAS CITY, Mo., -- The Western Michigan men's soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the ninth consecutive season.
The Broncos combined for a 3.60 GPA for the 2019-20 term, highlighted by a Mid-American Conference best 13 Academic All-MAC selections. Senior
Anthony Bowie went on to be named an CoSIDA Academic All-American and the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for Division I men's soccer.
"This academic award is a team award that the men seek to achieve every year," said head coach
Chad Wiseman. "This year the men posted a Top 10 GPA in the nation. That is impressive and speaks volume to the type of men we have in our program and the type of student-athletes we continue to recruit. Our athletic administration, faculty and supports staff are to be highly praised for their dedication and commitment. It's truly a Great Day to be a Bronco."
The current streak started in 2012 under former head coach
Stu Riddle, with the Broncos achieving the honors every season under Wiseman. WMU has also had the most Academic All-MAC selections in the past four seasons.
