KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's soccer alum Brandon Bye has been named to the College Soccer News All-Decade Team, earning a spot on the Third Team amongst the best to play the game from 2010-19.
Bye is the lone player from a school from the state of Michigan to grace the list. The Portage, Mich., native played in 67 career games over his four seasons with the Broncos, registering 63 points on 22 goals and 19 assists. He became the program's first ever Mid-American Conference Player of the Year after helping the Broncos to a regular season MAC Championship in 2017.
His magical senior season also saw the Broncos win their first NCAA Tournament game, a 2-0 victory over Albany at the WMU Soccer Complex. Bye was a semifinalist for the Herman Trophy, a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American selection, a College Soccer News First Team All-American, the United Soccer Coaches Division I National Scholar Player of the Year and a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American.
"That is a great list of players and when you look back on Brandon's career you can certainly understand why he was named to the All-Decade team," said Western Michigan head coach Chad Wiseman. "Brandon continues to elevate himself and make our program proud even after three years has gone by since he last wore the Brown & Gold."
Bye went on to be selected by the New England Revolution in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2018 Major League Soccer draft. Since then he has made 54 appearances in three seasons with the Revolution and currently leads the team in minutes played and games started this season.
