Men's Tennis Prepares for Another Big Ten Battle

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team will travel to East Lansing for a non-conference match against Michigan State, which is set for tomorrow at 6 p.m. The Broncos have won their last two meetings with the Spartans, which included a 7-0 victory last season in Kalamazoo.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Michigan State boasts a young line-up, with three freshmen and two sophomores seeing significant playing time early on. They have began the season with a 3-3 mark overall, following a pair of losses last weekend to Penn and Cornell.

Sophomore's Carson Gates and Anthony Pero lead their team in singles with three wins each. The duo of Kazuki Matsuno and Josh Mukherjee have started 3-3 at No. 3 doubles for the Spartans.

NATIONALLY RANKED NOUCHI
Senior Kennosuke Nouchi is featured in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) top 125 singles rankings, coming in at No. 124. The native of Kashima, Japan leads the Broncos with six singles victories and has also accumulated five doubles wins with two different partners.

MORE MAC HONORS FOR THE BRONCOS
Sophomore Peter Kuszynski was named the MAC Singles Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Wednesday. The Broncos have now earned this honor for the third consecutive time.

Against #16 Michigan on Saturday, Kuszynski defeated senior Connor Johnston at No. 3 singles in straight sets (6-4, 7-5). He has started his dual season 11-5 overall and has won two consecutive singles matches for the Broncos.
