KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Western Michigan men's tennis will face Youngstown State at 11 a.m. and Chicago State at 4 p.m. for a pair of non-conference matches at the West Hills Athletic Club on Friday.
SCOUTING PENGUINS
Youngstown State is looking for its first win in three matches. They were picked to finish third in the Horizon League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Junior Vasilis Vardakis earned all-conference honors last season and currently leads his team with a 6-1 record at No. 1 singles. The Broncos are 7-0 all-time against the Penguins.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Chicago State earned its first victory of the year on Sunday, defeating Prairie State College. They fell in the 2019 WAC Semifinals to the eventual champions from Grand Canyon.
Sophomore's Jesus Perez Plaza and Jakov Suler have both received WAC Player of the Week honors this season. WMU has never dropped a result to the Cougars over 11 matches.
FERRIS STATE RECAP
Western Michigan defeated NCAA Division II member Ferris State on Tuesday, shutting out the Bulldogs 7-0.

Peter Kuszynski all improved to 7-4 in singles for the dual season. Captain
Zac Faveri remained perfect in doubles play this year, beating Alec Olivier and Andrew Swirzcek with partner

NOUCHI OPITZ ITA
The senior duo of Nouchi and Opitz returned to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national doubles rankings at No. 39, as announced on Tuesday. They have posted a 5-3 record this year, which includes a victory over a team from Big Ten opponent Michigan State.
