Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan began the 2020 campaign out west last weekend at the University of Southern California and has an overall record of 1-2. WMU fell in the series opener and finale against the Trojans but picked up an 8-5 win over USC on Saturday night. It was WMU's first win over a PAC-12 school since 1989.
Blake Dunn Named to Golden Spikes Award Watch List
Junior outfielder
Blake Dunn was one of 55 players in the nation to be named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch list, which is given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country. Dunn is the first Bronco in school history to be named to the award watch list and just the sixth Mid-American Conference player to do so.
A Stellar First Impression
Last Saturday sophomore RHP
Easton Sikorski made his first career start and picked up his first career win at USC. In the 8-5 victory, Sikorski went six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out two. Sikorski didn't allow a hit over his final three innings of work.
Hudson Leading the Way
Redshirt junior
Logan Hudson led the Broncos at the plate at USC, registering a stellar .400 batting averaging to go along with three RBIs. Hudson also led the team with a .500 slugging and on-base percentage.
As Tough As It Gets
WMU will have 11 games during the 2020 campaign against Power Five schools, the most under head coach
Billy Gernon.
First Things First
Alabama A&M will be one of just three schools the Broncos will face for the first time in school history. WMU will also square off with IU-South Bend and Goshen College for the first time later on in the season.
Scouting the Competition
Alabama A&M heads into the weekend series with an overall record of 0-4. Last weekend the Bulldogs were swept on the road at Bethune-Cookman prior to dropping its home opener to UT-Martin 8-3 on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs have two players with over a .400 batting average led by Dillon Roop with a .417 batting average. Roop also leads the team with three RBIs while registering an on-base percentage of .467. As a pitching staff the Bulldogs have a 9.55 ERA and have allowed 35 earned runs on 39 hits in 33 innings.
