KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University football team collected 13 All-Mid-American Conference honors from Pro Football Focus on Wednesday, Dec. 22, led by first-team selections
Kaleb Eleby,
D'Wayne Eskridge,
Ralph Holley and
A.J. Thomas. In addition, PFF selected Eskridge as second team All-America at returner.
Eleby was named PFF's first team quarterback thanks to a 91.5 passing grade that ranked ninth in FBS in 2020. Eskridge collected first team honors at both receiver and kick returner. At receiver, the fifth-year senior had 18 gains of at least 15 yards, with most of that coming on non-vertical routes. More than 36-percent of his non-vertical routes went for gains of 15-plus yards, which led all receivers in FBS.
Holley was named a first team interior defensive lineman after he recorded one of the most dominant seasons by a three-technique per PFF, recording the highest pass-rush grade in FBS among the group. Thomas recorded a coverage grade of 77.2 this season at linebacker, with nine passing stops giving him three more than anyone else in the MAC.
Five Broncos earned second-team selections:
Jaylon Moore (left tackle),
Mike Caliendo (left guard),
Mark Brooks (right tackle),
Ali Fayad (edge defender) and
Nick Mihalic (punter).
Skyy Moore (receiver) and
Braden Fiske (interior defensive line) were third-team selections and
La'Darius Jefferson was honorable mention at running back.
Western Michigan finished the abbreviated MAC season 4-2 and
earned 12 all-league selections from the conference itself last week.
