Box Score VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team defeated Valparaiso on the road to earn its third consecutive victory this afternoon. With the 4-3 result, the Broncos have now recorded three straight wins over the Crusaders dating back to the 2018 campaign.
All three doubles teams prevailed for the Broncos, with the #41 nationally ranked duo of
Jannik Opitz and
Kennosuke Nouchi giving their team a 1-0 lead following a 6-4 win over Brandon Ancona and Brian Pecyna.
Valparaiso tied the match at 1-1 after Franklin Brozovich was victorious at #6 singles. Western Michigan then rebounded, winning the next three singles matches to clinch its fifth win of the dual season. Opitz and junior
Zac Faveri both won in three set battles to each improve to 4-0 on the weekend overall. Reigning MAC Newcomer of the Year,
Peter Kuszynski, beat Daniel Langston in straight sets at #3 singles.
Western Michigan will travel to Ann Arbor for a match with Michigan on Saturday, February 1 at 6 p.m.
