Jannik Opitz and
Kennosuke Nouchi have been named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week for men's tennis, as announced on Wednesday.Â
Opitz and Nouchi went 2-0 at #1 doubles on Sunday, as the Broncos defeated Butler and Illinois Chicago. They beat Thomas Brennan and Olof Wiklund from the Bulldogs 6-4, and Johan Hedstrom and Kasper Parlklo of the Flames 6-2.
This marks the fourth time that they have received MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors together dating back to the 2018 season. Jannik has earned this award eight total times with four different partners, while Kennosuke has achieved it six times during his career between two partners.Â
Western Michigan will head to Iowa for three more non-conference matches. The Broncos will face Drake on Friday, January 17 in Des Moines before traveling to the University of Iowa on Saturday. Western Michigan will close out its Hawkeye State road trip back in Des Moines on Sunday, where they will take on Gonzaga in a neutral site match-up.Â
