KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan softball team and head coach Kathy Leitke announced their fall competition schedule on Thursday, Sept. 4.

The fall schedule kicks off on Sept. 21 in Traverse City when the Broncos take on in-state rival Central Michigan and Northwood University that Saturday at Traverse City West High School. The tournament continues Sept. 22 with WMU playing Detroit Mercy and heading to the tournament finals that afternoon depending on wins/losses.

Western Michigan then hosts Aquinas and Purdue University - Fort Wayne on Sept. 29 for a three-game slate starting at 10:00 a.m.

Their last event of the fall takes place on Oct. 6 at University of Notre Dame. The Brown & Gold will play Notre Dame at 2:15 p.m. and Valparaiso at 4:30.

"We are excited to welcome our newcomers in the program and look forward to blending them with some strong returners," Leitke commented. "Our fall schedule this year has a mix of competition that should provide us with an early look at our team strengths and focus points for the year.

The Broncos welcome back 12 letterwinners and introduce six freshman to a squad that ended its 2019 season 18-28 overall, 9-11 in the Mid-American Conference.
