YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team sits tied for fifth place, while senior Jasmine Chee is tied for seventh, after two rounds at the Shirley Spork Invitational at Eagle Crest Golf Club on Monday.

The host Eagles lead the tournament with a 54-hole total of 296 (+20), Purdue Fort Wayne and oakland sit tied for second totals of 601 (+25), Green Bay is in fourth at 607 (+31). The Broncos combined to shoot a 611 (+35). The Broncos, who are tied with Central Michigan, shot an opening round of 308 and shaved five strokes off in the second round to finish with a 303. WMU sits ahead of Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Dayton, Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Chicago State.

"For 85 percent of the day today we played consistent golf," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. "For us to take it up a notch, it will be about an even deeper focus for the last 15 percent of the day. Making sure we are locked in on the details throughout the round. Tomorrow is another great opportunity for us to go low."

Chee opened the day shooting a 75 and then shot a 73 in the second round for a 148 (+4). The Hong Kong native sits just two shots outside the top five. Chee was tied for the tournament-best with six birdies.

Sophomore Imogen Courtney opened with a 77 and then shot a 75 to sit tied for 19th at 152 (+8). Junior Cameryn Lucia finished with a 155 (+11), followed by freshman Alissa Fish at 156 (+12) and Fiona Wang at 157 (+12). Fish led the Broncos with 26 pars.

The final round begins on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
