TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced its 2019-20 NCAA Division I preseason rankings for both singles and doubles. The Western Michigan doubles team of seniors Jannik Opitz and Kennosuke Nouchi are ranked 36th out of the 60 teams that received recognition. 

Opitz and Nouchi were outstanding in the doubles discipline last season, finishing with an overall record of 17-2 and a 6-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play. They won their last six matches, which included victories in the 2019 MAC Men's Tennis Championship against teams from Ball State and Northern Illinois in Kalamazoo.

Western Michigan will resume its fall competition schedule this weekend at the Notre Dame Bobby Bayliss Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
