KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team will take on the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology for its annual Border Battle exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
This will be the first game between the Broncos and the Ooks in program history. NAIT is a polytechnic and applies sciences institute located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The school plays in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
The annual Border Battle marks the opening of the 2019-20 season, the ninth under head coach Andy Murray. WMU opens the regular season in Toledo, Ohio with the 2019 Ice Breaker Tournament. The Broncos open the tournament on Friday, Oct. 11 against Ohio State at The Huntington Center. Western Michigan will then battle the hosts Bowling Green or RIT the following day. WMU welcomes the Falcons on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. for its regular season home-opener.
