TEMPE, Ariz. – On Thursday the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named Western Michigan men's tennis an All-Academic Team while seven individuals were named Scholar Athletes in
Lenhard Haupt, Kristofer Knof,
Peter Kuszynski,
Kennosuke Nouchi,
Eric Olivarez,
Jannik Opitz and
Matej Svjetlicic.
It's the fifth year in a row the WMU men's tennis team has earned the ITA All-Academic honor. The Broncos along with Ball State are the only two schools from the Mid-American Conference to earn the All-Academic team award.

On the court in 2019, the Brown & Gold captured its 25
th MAC regular season and 13
th MAC tournament title after posting an undefeated conference record of 7-0 and an overall record of 18-9.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). In order to earn ITA Scholar Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
