BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Western Michigan golf team heads to Bowling Green State University for the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, the team's final meet before the Mid-American Conference Championships April 19-21.
In addition to taking on the host Falcons on their home course at Stone Ridge Golf Club, the Broncos will also be tested by Central Michigan, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Illinois-Chicago, Oakland and Ohio. The course is par 72 and ranged out to 5,829 yards. The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, followed by a final 18 holes on Sunday.
Last season the Broncos stumbled a bit at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, finishing in 10th place. Individually, alum Julia Champion finished in third.
Western Michigan has had a strong second half of its season. After a sixth place finish at the MAC Match Play Challenge, the Broncos took fourth at the Rio Verde Invitational. It was WMU's best finish in several years at the tournament it hosts every February, with senior Claire Hernandez taking the medalist spot. WMU then went to the Low Country Invitational and claimed the team and the individual titles, with Hernandez winning once again.
The Broncos are looking to continue its strong second half beginning on Saturday morning.
