Box Score 3 CLEARWATER, Fla.- The Western Michigan softball team continued play in Florida on its annual spring trip, going 2-1 over three games March 6 & 7.
The Broncos split a pair yesterday, defeating Detroit 5-0 before falling 1-0 against South Dakota State. WMU rebounded for an 8-1 win over Penn on Thursday.
Western Michigan jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Detroit, following an RBI single by senior 
Jenna Faultersack. WMU added two more runs in the top of the second, courtesy of a triple off the right field fence by junior 
Mackenzie Swinehart. Senior 
Erin Barg hit a two-run home run in the fourth to extend the Broncos' lead to 5-0.
Sophomore 
Sydney Stefanick earned the win in the pitcher's circle, throwing the complete game shutout. She allowed just four hits and struck out four.
South Dakota State and Western Michigan each had four hits in Wednesday's game two. A solo home run by the Jackrabbits in the third was the difference maker in the 1-0 decision. Sophomore 
Reily Galloway pitched for the Broncos.
WMU's eight runs against Penn Thursday tied a season high. Sophomore 
Logan Carter got the Broncos started with a a solo home run in the second. An RBI single by junior 
Kaylen Glenfield stretched the lead to 2-0.
Glenfield also had an RBI in the sixth with a sac fly. Stefanick drove in a run in the fifth and sixth innings, finishing the game 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIS. Swinehart hit a two-run single in the sixth.
Senior pitcher 
Jordan Kurth earned her first win of the season, going 3.1 innings in the starting effort. She yielded one run and five hits. Stefanick threw the final 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits.
Western Michigan has five games remaining in Florida over the next three days. The Broncos face St. John's tomorrow at 12:30 p.m., and UT Chattanooga at 3 p.m.
