BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Western Michigan golf team leads the Low Country Invitational by one stroke after the first round on Monday at Crescent Pointe Golf Club.
WMU combined to shoot 308 (+24) and sits just ahead of UNC Pembroke. The Broncos placed two golfers in the top five, led by Jasmine Chee in third place with a 74 (+3). Senior Claire Hernandez is currently tied for fourth place after shooting a 75 (+4). Chee finished the round with four birdies, second-most so far in the tournament. Hernandez is tied for second with 13 pars.
Sophomore Cameryn Lucia was Western Michigan's third finisher, tied for 14th after shooting a 77. Freshmen Fiona Wang and Brooke Gibbons both shot an 82 to round out the Broncos top five on the day.
The second and final round begins on Tuesday morning.
