WMU Makes Trek to Butler for Three-Game Set

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Following a nine-game slate down in Florida, the Western Michigan baseball team will hit the road once again for a three-game series at Butler, March 16-17.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan begins its three-game series at Butler with an overall record of 5-10 and has won four of its last six contests. The two teams met a year ago in Kalamazoo with the Broncos scoring seven runs on 17 hits in the three-game set.

WMU Enjoys the Sunshine State
In nine games during its annual spring break trip to Florida the Bronco bats came alive registering a .359 batting average with 78 runs scored. In the nine-game stretch WMU scored double digit runs three times and posted double digit hits in all but one game.

One of the Nation's Top Offenses
The Broncos have one of the nation's best offenses, ranking fifth in the NCAA with a team batting average of .324. WMU has scored 114 runs on 180 hits and has nine players hitting over .300.

Production Hudson
Redshirt sophomore Logan Hudson leads the Broncos and the MAC with a staggering .447 batting average. Hudson also ranks third in the MAC in slugging percentage (.711) and second in on-base percentage (.540).

Windy City Power
Chicago, Ill., native Jesse Forestell has led WMU in the power department this season leading the team and the MAC with four home runs through 15 games. Heading in to his senior campaign, Forestell had just two career home runs.

Consider It Dunn
Sophomore Blake Dunn looks to continue his hot start to the season as the Saugatuck, Mich., native reached base safely in 15 straight games. Dunn also has a team-high nine game hitting streak.

On Deck
Following its series against the Bulldogs the Broncos will travel to Ann Arbor on Tuesday, March 19 for a showdown with nationally ranked Michigan. WMU then returns to Kalamazoo for its conference home opener against Ball State, March 22-24 at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field.

Scouting the Opponent
Butler has an overall record of 9-6 and has won five of its last six games including a 6-1 victory at Alabama A&M on Wednesday.  Over the past six games the Butler offense has averaged 10.3 runs per game. Last season the Bulldogs went 34-20 and fell in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament.
