MAC TOURNAMENT
For the first time in six years, No. 10 seeded Western Michigan is away from home for the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, facing the No. 7 seed Northern Illinois. The 2012-13 Broncos received the No. 9 seed and defeated Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Mich. to advance to Cleveland for the first time since 2008. WMU is 24-29 all-time in the conference tournament with six consecutive appearances past the first round. Last season, the No. 6 seeded Broncos upset No. 3 seed Ball State prior to falling in the semifinal round versus No. 2 Buffalo.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
Western Michigan fell 74-71 against Northern Illinois on Saturday during senior day and the regular season finale at University Arena. WMU turned in a strong first half, leading by as many as 10 while taking a 35-27 lead into the break. The Huskies fired back, however, outscoring the Broncos 47-36 in the final 20 minutes while the lead changed nine times throughout the second half. The Brown & Gold held a 34-28 advantage in rebounds while shooting 40.4 percent from the field (23-of-57) and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-32). The visitors forced 16 Bronco turnovers and put together a 22-for-25 output at the charity stripe, led by Mikayla Voigt, who made 10 free throws and a game-high 26 points.
Leighah-Amori Wool led WMU with 19 points, paced by four three-pointers.
Jasmyn Walker followed with 17 points and was just a pair of rebounds shy of a double-double with a team-high eight rebounds.
Deja Wimby added 13 points, five assists, and tied a season-high with five steals.
SERIES HISTORY
Monday's contest will mark the 66th all-time matchup between Western Michigan and Northern Illinois, with the Broncos owning a 38-26 series advantage. The two teams met on Saturday during the regular season finale, with the Huskies prevailing with a three-point victory to earn the series sweep over WMU. During postseason competition, Western Michigan is 1-2 against NIU. The Broncos and Huskies last met in the MAC Tournament in 2017 in the semifinals, an 83-55 win for NIU.Â

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Western Michigan heads into the postseason coming off two losses while going 2-3 during its last five, receiving the No. 10 seed and heading on the road for the first round of the MAC Tournament for the first time in six seasons. Senior point guard
Deja Wimby led the Broncos in the regular season with an average of 13.8 points per game while ranking third in the conference with 2.8 steals per game and fifth with 4.4 assists per contest. During conference play,
Leighah-Amori Wool ranked fifth in the MAC with a 36.9 field goal percentage three-point field goal percentage.
Jasmyn Walker leads WMU and ranks ninth in the MAC with 7.0 rebounds per game.Â
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northern Illinois has won two-straight over Western Michigan, closing out the season with a 74-71 win in Kalamazoo, Mich. to finish third in the MAC West Division standings and receive the No. 7 seed for the conference tournament with an 18-12 overall record and 10-8 mark in the MAC. During conference play, the Huskies ranked fifth with 67.6 points per contest and sixth with 68.8 points against. Senior guard Mikayla Voigt ranks fourth in the MAC with 18.7 points per game.Â
EVERY POSSESSION COUNTS
Eight of WMU's 14 conference games have been decided by four points or less, which is the most in program history since Mid-American Conference competition began during the 1981-82 season. The last time the Broncos had five MAC games decided by four points or less came during the 2008-09 season, as well as the 2004-05 season. The last time a Western Michigan squad had more than five conference games decided by four points or less was in 1995-96, when six games were decided by a four-point margin.Â
BRONCOS SET SINGLE SEASON THREE-POINT RECORD
Headlined by a stretch from Dec. 21 through Jan. 9 in which the Brown & Gold tallied double-digit makes from beyond the arc four games in a row, WMU recorded 10 three-pointers versus NIU on Saturday to mark the ninth time this season they have made double-digit amounts of three-pointers. With the third three-point field goal of the day versus NIU, the 2018-19 Broncos surpassed a single season school record with their 208th of the year. The 1998-99 WMU squad previously held the record with 207.Â
WIMBY CLIMBS RECORD BOOK
Senior point guard
Deja Wimby continues to move up in the Bronco women's basketball record book. At Ohio (Feb. 16), Wimby tallied eight points to become the 27th Bronco all-time to reach the 1,000 career point mark. She also became the seventh Bronco in program history to have surpassed 1,000 points, 400 assists, and 200 steals in a career and is just the second to rank among the top 20 scorers while ranking in the top five in both assists and steals.Â
WALKER JOINS 1K CLUB
Jasmyn Walker scored 13 points versus Toledo (Jan. 13) to surpass 1,000 points in her career. After totaling 679 points in two seasons at Valparaiso University, Walker has now accumulated 462 points in 49 games played in Brown & Gold.Â
WALKER SELECTED TO WBCA COACHES PROGRAM
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced the class for the 17th annual "So You Want To Be A Coach" program on Jan. 22, with redshirt senior
Jasmyn Walker included. Each member will participate in the three-day workshop with speakers provided by WeCOACH on April 3-5 in conjunction with the WBCA Convention in Tampa Bay, Fla. Walker, a business administration major, is one of 60 student-athletes throughout NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, invited to participate in the program. She will follow in the footsteps of former Broncos Breanna Bankston and Carrie Moore, who both went on to become Division I coaches.

CLIPFELL THIRD IN ALL-TIME IN WINS AT WMU
Head Coach
Shane Clipfell, who eclipsed the 100-win mark versus Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 28), moved into third place in all-time coaching wins at Western Michigan during the victory over Bowling Green (Jan. 5). His 105th career win in his seventh season at the helm passed Jim Hess' (1982-90) career win total.
