Scouting the Broncos
For the first time since 2015 Western Michigan will be on the road for the First Round of the MAC Tournament. The Broncos are in the No.12 seed in the conference tournament with an overall record of 8-23, 2-16 in MAC play. WMU has won five of its previous seven first round match-ups. Â
Third Time's a Charm
It will be the third match-up of the season between the two in-state rivals and second straight. Â It will be the first time since 2009 the Broncos and Chippewas meet in the First Round of the conference tournament.
Road to Cleveland
Western Michigan has won five of its last seven first round tournament games and seeks a trip to Cleveland for the first time since 2016. Under head coach
Steve Hawkins, WMU is 17-11 in the MAC Tournament with titles in 2004 and 2014.
Double-Double Dugan
Senior
Seth Dugan registered his 15
th double-double on Friday against CMU and is now in sole possession in second for most double-doubles in a season, surpassing Shayne Whittington's mark of 14 during the 2013-14 season.
Dugan is one double-double shy of tying the school record set by Booker James (16) during the 1986-87 campaign.
1,000 Within Reach for Dugan
Dugan is just 29 points away from eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for his career. Dugan can become the 42
nd member of WMU's 1,000-point club.
Shooting from Three
This season Western Michigan set a new school record with 692 three-point field goal attempts.
Fortune 500
With 12 points, sophomore
Michael Flowers can join Dugan as the only Broncos to have 500 points this season. In doing so, Flowers and Dugan will become the first pair of teammates to score over 500 points since
Thomas Wilder and
Tucker Haymond did so back in 2015.
Scouting Central Michigan
Central Michigan locked up the No.5 seed in the MAC Tournament with an overall record of 21-10, 10-8 in conference play. The Chippewas have won four of their last six games and have a stellar 12-4 record at home.
The Chippewas have five players averaging in double figures with guard Larry Austin Jr., leading the way at 17.0 points per game.
