COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan freshmen Michael Joyaux has been named Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week after his performance in WMU's split with North Dakota.

Joyaux helped the Broncos bounce back after a tough loss on Friday by netting his first two career goals in Saturday's 4-2 win and firing off a career-high six shots on goal. Joyaux's first collegiate goal came early in the second period to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Minutes later he tallied his second power play goal of the game to push the lead to 2-0.

This is the fourth NCHCH Defenseman of the Week Award taken by a Bronco this season. Joyaux joins Cam Lee, who earned twice, and Luke Bafia. Broncos have earned NCHC weekly awards 10 total times this season.

Western Michigan heads to Colorado College this weekend for a pair of games. WMU and CC play on Friday at 9:37 p.m. and then again on Saturday at 6:37 p.m. Both games can be seen live on NCHC.tv and heard live on the Bronco Radio Network. The Broncos return home to host No. 1 St. Cloud State on March 1-2 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and online at www.wmubroncos.com/tickets.
