KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team checks in at No. 19 in the newest US College Hockey Online poll released on Monday, setting up a top 20 clash with No. 15 Notre Dame on Friday and Sunday.
The USCHO.com Poll consists of 50 voters, including coaches and beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.
The Broncos (7-7-2, 3-4-1-1 NCHC) have been off since Dec. 7 and return to action on Friday, Jan. 3 at UND at 7:05 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. WMU returns home to host the Fighting Irish on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 5 p.m.
Western Michigan has spent 12 weeks in the national polls so far this season. The Broncos currently sit in fourth place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings and reopen conference play with a series at No. 10 Minnesota-Duluth on Jan. 10-11 at 8:07 p.m.
