INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The accolades continue to roll in for junior forward Drew Washe after his performance on the weekend against Colorado College. This time the Clarkson, Mich., native has been named the NCAA No. 2 Star of the Week.
Washe had five points in the two games to help the Broncos take five out of six points from the Tigers. He had a career-high three points in Friday's 6-3 win, netting the game-winning goal to put WMU ahead 4-3 and then assisting on the team's fifth and sixth. On Saturday he put the Broncos ahead 1-0 on his fourth goal of the season and then assisted on the game-tying goal by Ronnie Attard with 24 seconds left that sent the game to overtime.
Through eight games this season Washe leads the team in points with nine on four goals and five assists. He sits just two points shy of matching his career-best season output of 11 that he set last season.
Washe and the Broncos have three of their next four games at Lawson Ice Arena, beginning with a game against state rival Ferris State on Friday at 7:05 p.m. WMU travels to Big Rapids on Saturday for an 8:07 p.m. start before hosting Omaha on Nov. 15-16.
