Western Michigan heads into the road weekend with an overall record of 13-13 and 4-10 in Mid-American Conference play. Last weekend at home, WMU fell in four sets to Ball State before falling in five sets to Toledo.
Williams Named MAC West Player of the Week
Redshirt sophomore
Janell Williams was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after registering 19 total blocks in two matches last weekend. Williams posted a career-high 12 blocks last Saturday vs. Toledo.
Keeping the Streak Alive
Heading into the weekend, junior outside hitter
Rachel Bontrager has registered double-digit kills in a career-high 17 straight matches. Bontrager leads the MAC this season with 399 kills.
Bontrager Moving Up the Record Books
Bontrager is climbing the career list for kills at WMU as the Valparaiso, Ind., native already ranks 11th in school history with 1,254 kills. Bontrager needs just three kills to move past Shaylen Jackson for tenth most in school history.
Digging It
Senior
Kathleen Reilly is one of the best defensive players in the country, ranking tenth in the NCAA in total digs (548) and 14th in the nation in digs per set (5.43).
Double-Double Broncos
During the 2019 campaign, Western Michigan as a team has 32 double-doubles. Freshman
Rose Duffy leads the way with ten double-doubles followed by Bontrager with nine and freshman
Maggie King with five.
Scouting the Competition
Northern Illinois (8-20, 5-9 MAC): The Huskies head into the weekend having lost four straight matches falling to Toledo in four sets and Ball State in three sets last weekend. The Huskies are led by Jasmine Kemp who ranks sixth in the MAC with a .333 attack percentage.
Miami (16-9, 11-3 MAC): Miami sits atop the MAC East standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. The RedHawks have nine of their last 10 matches and will square off with Bowling Green on Thursday prior to its match with WMU.
