KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team opens the 2019-20 season hosting Northern Alberta Institute of Technology on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

NORTHERN ALBERTA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
NAIT is polytechnic and applied sciences institute located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The school has an approximate enrollment of 16,000. The Ooks play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and this is the first matchup between the two programs.
THE BORDER BATTLE
WMU's annual Border Battle game has been a staple under head coach Andy Murray. The Broncos are 4-2-2 in the exhibition series against Western Michigan's neighbors to the north.
ICE BREAKER
Western Michigan opens the regular season at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Toledo, Ohio, next Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 12/13 Ohio State. The tournament is hosted by Bowling Green at the Huntington Center, home of the ECHL's Toledo Walleye. The Broncos will then play either the host Falcons or RIT on Saturday.
