Jayden Reed was named to the 18th annual Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-America Team this morning.
Reed is the fourth Bronco to earn FWAA Freshman All-America honors in the last seven years, joining punt returner Jamie Wilson (2012), wide receiver
Corey Davis (2013) and kick returner
Darius Phillips (2014). He was one of only two players from the Mid-American Conference to be recognized this season.
Reed caught 56 passes for 797 yards and eight touchdowns during his rookie campaign. He also had a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown. He recorded four 100-yard receiving games and ranked in the top 10 in the MAC in overall receiving yards (797), receiving yards per game (61.3), receptions per game (4.3) and receiving touchdowns (8).
Reed burst onto the collegiate scene with seven receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' season-opener against ACC opponent Syracuse. In game three he made a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown against Delaware State which ranked second longest in school history.
Reed opened conference play with another head-turning effort, grabbing four touchdowns and totaling a season-high 137 yards in WMU's 40-39 win at Miami. The four touchdown catches tied Super Bowl XLV champion and WMU Hall of Famer Greg Jennings' school record.
