Dave Morin has announced the signing of future Bronco
Arjun Honnappa to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Honnappa will be eligible to compete for the Brown & Gold starting the 2019-20 season.Â
A native of Bengaluru, India, Honnappa has achieved an ITF career-high score of 549 (combined singles and doubles) and has had a UTR score of 12.20 in the spring of 2018. In India, Arjun's national junior ranking was as high as No. 5 in U16 and No. 12 in U18.
A member of the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy, Honnappa has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and intends to study business at Western Michigan. He was awarded Sportsman of the Year in 2017 & 2018 at Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College. Â
"We are very excited to announce the signing of Arjun Honnappa to a NLI and his commitment to play for the Broncos," said head coach Dave Morin. "He's a dedicated student-athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the tennis court. His 6'4" frame and being a lefty will give him a distinct advantage in college as he continues to hone his skills. Arjun is a great start to our recruiting class of '23, and is the type of person and player that will have a lasting impact on our program."
