KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan men's soccer team has been ranked No. 14 in the nation according to the United Soccer Coaches Division I preseason poll, released Aug. 7.

Last season, the Broncos had a 17-4-1 overall record and finished the year ranked No. 9. WMU was ranked for 11 consecutive weeks, peaking at No. 4 on Nov. 7.

The Broncos won their first ever Mid-American Conference regular season championship, going a perfect 5-0-0 in conference play, and captured its first NCAA Tournament win over Albany before falling to Michigan State in the round of 16.

Western Michigan will be led by seven seniors in 2018, and will look to replace three starting players, two of which were MLS Draft selections, from last year's roster.

Western Michigan will compete in 18 regular season matches with three matchups against opponents that are also ranked in the preseason top 30 - No. 4 Akron, No. 9 Butler and No. 21 Michigan.

WMU is scheduled to play in two away exhibition games including preseason No. 7 Michigan State (8/13) and Valparaiso (8/16). The Broncos open their 48th season hosting Loyola-Chicago on Friday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m.

Admission to all WMU home soccer games inside the WMU Soccer Complex is free.
