Football Helps First Day Shoe Fund Collect Over 200 Pairs of Shoes at Fan Fest

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan football program partnered with the First Day Shoe Fund to collect over 200 pairs of children's shoes Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Broncos' annual Fan Fest.

First Day Shoe Fund provides new athletic shoes to students qualifying for free/reduced price lunch and has grown to serve elementary students from Kalamazoo Public Schools, Comstock Public Schools, Paramount Charter Academy, WoodsEdge Learning Center, Vicksburg and Portage's Haverhill Elementary.

Western Michigan also gave fans their first glimpse of the 2018 team with a live practice at Fan Fest and players signed autographs at the end of the session.

The Broncos open the 2018 season hosting Syracuse at home, Friday, Aug. 31. Kickoff from Waldo Stadium is at 6 p.m. Tickets are available now at wmubroncos.com/tickets.
