Men’s Basketball Signs Patrick Emilien to NLI

KALAMAZOO, Mich. –  On Monday, Western Michigan men's basketball head coach Steve Hawkins announced the signing of forward Patrick Emilien to a National Letter of Intent.

Emilien joins guards Adrian Martin and William Boyer-Richard and forward Kawanise "Squeaky" Wilkins as part of the 2018 recruiting class.

In the National Preparatory Association (NPA) with the Toronto Basketball Academy, Emilien averaged 20.6 points per game, ranking sixth in the league. Emilien helped lead his team to the NPA National Championship Quarterfinals after opening the tournament with a 27 point, five rebound performance against BC Christian Prep.

In the NPA Quarterfinal match-up against Central Tech, Emilien registered a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. During the NPA New Year Challenge, the 6-8 forward averaged 22.6 points per game including a 29 point, five rebound game vs.
London Basketball Academy.

During NPA play, Emilien had a 40-point performance with 10 three-pointers against a Virginia Tech commit and ESPN Top 100 prospect.

Emilien was selected as one of 25 Canadians to compete in the NBA-Sanctioned All-Canadian Showcase. At the showcase, Emilien played with multiple ESPN Top 100 prospects including Duke commit, R.J. Barrett, who is projected to be the No.1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
