WMU Softball Falls to Eastern Michigan, 1-0

Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan softball team dropped a 1-0 decision to Eastern Michigan Friday in game one of this weekend's three-game Mid-American Conference series. The Broncos and Eagles conclude the series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. It will be Senior Day as well as Alumni Day for WMU. Admission to all home Bronco softball games is free.

Eastern Michigan (11-37 overall, 6-15 MAC) scored the lone run in Friday's contest in the third inning after a double to right field and single to shallow left center.

Western Michigan's Jordan Kurth (12-6) threw an impressive game, striking out nine and scattering six hits over seven innings, but the Bronco offensive effort was not there to support the junior pitcher. The Broncos had just four hits in the game and only took one walk. Junior shortstop Brooke Wyman had two of the four hits.

EMU pitcher Nicolle Miranda (5-18) struck out eight over seven innings.

WMU's record slipped to 26-23 overall and 12-10 in the MAC.
