Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into the weekend with an overall record of 19-19 and 8-8 in conference play. The Broncos have won eight of their last 13 games and four straight MAC series. WMU seeks its fifth straight MAC series victory for the first time since 1987.
Senior Day!
On Sunday against the RedHawks, the Western Michigan baseball team will honor its senior class of

Jacob Piechota prior to first pitch. As sophomores, this senior class helped WMU win its first ever MAC Tournament Championship.
Offensive Performance vs. Northwestern
The Broncos had a near record breaking performance on Wednesday against Northwestern inside Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. WMU scored 26 runs on 21 hits to defeat the Wildcats, 26-15. With 26 runs, the Broncos were two runs shy of the school record of 28 set back in 1988.
15-Run Fourth Inning
Against Northwestern, the WMU offense exploded in the fourth inning scoring 15 runs on eight hits. The 15-run inning was highlighted by two home runs including a grand slam by junior
Nate Grys.

Junior
Nate Grys was dominant at the plate against Northwestern, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBIs and three runs scored. The seven RBI performance was two shy of the school record set by Frank Michalski back in 1963.
The Madison Heights, Mich., native leads the Broncos in doubles (12), home runs (7), RBIs (38) and slugging percentage (.600).
Last Time Out vs. Miami
This will be the second time this season WMU and Miami have met on the diamond. The two programs met back on Feb. 23 in Buies Creek, N.C. at the Campbell Invitational in a non-conference affair. The Broncos came away with a 4-2 victory over the RedHawks in 10 innings on a walk-off home run by Grys.
Scouting the RedHawks
Miami heads into the weekend with an overall record of 26-15 and 11-7 in MAC play. On Tuesday night in Oxford, Ohio, the RedHawks defeated Cincinnati for the second time this season, 7-2.
Offensively, Miami is led by Ross Haffey who is first on the team in batting average (.344), at-bats (154), runs (39), hits (53), triples (3), home runs (12) and slugging percentage (.695). Landon Stephens leads the team in RBIs with 38.
On the mound the RedHawks have a 4.30 ERA with three pitchers having at least four victories. The ace of the staff is Spencer Mraz who has a 4-2 record with a 2.92 ERA. Senior Gus Graham at 4-0 is the reigning MAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after throwing his second straight complete game vs. Ohio.
