DALLAS – Western Michigan fifth-year right-hander
Turner Doran has been named to the initial Watch List for the 21st annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year award. It marks the third straight year a WMU pitcher has earned a spot on the preseason Watch List, and second consecutive season Doran has landed on the list.
Last season, Doran made 16 appearances out of the Western Michigan bullpen and posted a team-best 4.21 ERA over his 25.2 innings of work. The righty compiled 30 strikeouts and led the Broncos with a strikeout rate of 10.52 K/9.
An Academic All-MAC selection in 2025, Doran came through in several big moments for WMU, including closing out the combined no-hitter against The Citadel, Western Michigan's first no-hitter since 1997. In conference play, he had a 3.0-inning save to clinch a series victory at NIU, and fired 3.0 scoreless frames to pick up the win and finish off a series sweep against Central Michigan.
Doran and the Broncos begin their 2026 season on Friday, Feb. 13, down in Port Charlotte, Fla., with the opener of a three-game Opening Weekend series against Pitt.
