Box Score DETROIT- A day after upsetting No. 14 ranked Michigan on the road, the Western Michigan softball team fell in its final non-conference contest of the season, 4-2 at Detroit.
WMU (26-22) returns to Kalamazoo to host Eastern Michigan for a three-game Mid-American Conference series this weekend, beginning Friday at 3 p.m., and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Saturday will be Senior Day and Alumni Day for the Broncos.
Kara Vitale hit a two-run home run for Detroit in the first inning and and Kori Keyes went deep with a solo shot in the sixth. The Titans also scored a run after a leadoff double in the second inning.
WMU scored a run in the second and another in the fourth. Redshirt senior
Marlee Wilson scored both runs after leading off each inning with a single. She batted 3-for-3 in the game.
Mackenzie Swinehart went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in Wilson in the second.
Erin Barg tallied an RBI on a groundout in the fourth.
Senior pitcher
Anissa Sanchez (5-8) suffered the loss, allowing three runs and four hits over two innings of work.
