COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – Western Michigan hockey alum Jordan Oesterle has been selected to represent the United States at the upcoming 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships, beginning May 4 in Denmark.
Oesterle, who helped WMU to a Central Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament Championship back in 2012, is being selected off of a career-best season. The Dearborn, Mich., native played 55 games for the Chicago Blackhawks, netting five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
Oesterle will be coached by former WMU hockey head coach and current Detroit Red Wings bench boss Jeff Blashill. He joins former teammate Danny DeKeyser as the most recent Broncos to represent the United States. Team USA opens the group stage against Canada on May 4. USA then battles the hosts on May 5. The team then takes on Germany on May 7 and Latvia on May 10. USA wraps up group play against Norway on May 13 and then Finland on May 15.
